Men......!!!

Happy Tuesday everyone!! I hope this finds all you lovely people well?

What a shame the snow has all vanished here ( felix, however is VERY pleased about that ! ) I really do love the stuff as oppossed to the gales and torrential rain that replaced it - there is something so peaceful and romantic about the view of snow covered fields from the art room.....

Well valentines is not far off so this week I will be working on some ideas for then and I will hopefully share them by the end of the week. In the meantime I thought I would show you a couple of male card ideas - I think all of us struggle with ideas for guys especially if they arent sporty or into hobbies....!!!!

These two cards use Clarity and Kanban stamps. The card on the right is acetate fronted with one of the balloons affixed to offer some dimension and the background was created using brayer and sponging techniques. the balloons are all stamped and coloured with alcohol markers.

This second card uses lots of masking off to achieve the layered effect - then the subtle (so subtle its not that visible to the camera !!) script background was applied before the individual scenes were built and sponged in.

Guys that are sporty are far easier to deal with......

.....this needs little intro or explanation it was a comission for a friends brother's 40th ! My friend supports everton and thought the 4-0 scoreline a highly amusing dig at the recipient's liverpool! the card was created using a liverpool skyline vector and a liver bird mask taken from the internet and hand cut.

This one was made as part of the Clarity New Design Club challenge. The theme was  red white and blue olympics.....it took the same idea as above using an internet sillhoette to create an aperture which was then brayered through. Being a thrifty crafter the ribbon came off a jubilee cake !!! lol.

Well thats the lot for now - I hope you like the samples and find some inspiration !! I have a list of craft jobs as long as a giraffes neck so I really ought to crack on.......well after another brew anyway !!

Stay safe and crafty cheers for now !!

SPLOGICAL INSPIRATIONS...........

Hellooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Yes your eyes are not decieving you ..... I am back second day on the trot!!!
This time I am back to showcase the samples from today's Splodge Away shows on Create and craft

This pen fold card was very simple mat and layering with the flowers from todays flower creations masks and using the gorgeous new Spellbinders butterflies

This is simple to make just affix three 4 x 4 in card blanks together to make the concertina base.

Then came the Gothic set where I went with a 1920's theme with this gorgeous clarity stamp, some simple embossing using mirror card and  I had a go at the pearl drops technique favoured by the super talented Sue Wilson. stunningly effective though it can test the nerves and needs a steady hand LOL!!!

This card utilised the pentacle and rune components of the Gothic set. there are many variaitions you could use these simple individual symbols for.

Next came 2 simillarly colour schemes.....probably because they are my go too favourites!!

The first uses pan pastels and some very effective touches I learned at one of Eileen Godwins fantastic classes

While for this one I took the leaf layout and got nice n messy with some radiance rains along with some Shenna Douglas stamps, Paperatsy words and the butterflies got another outing as well!!

And finally probably my personal fave project from this months designs altough sadly it didnt make our tv screens. I went back to my roots and with a little help from my Mum we cut out lots of the flower creators from the fabulous 60's themed Hippy Chic paper pad to create this fun bright bunting

I hope you enjoyed the show and all the awesome samples from todays shows ..... the whole DT excelled themselves!!!

Right I am off to feed various cats, dogs, bunnies, budgies, cockateels, chickens and cockerels.

Stay safe in this wintery weather
Crafty cheers for now

Happy Crafting

A little something to make us think towards the long summer days that should be on the way soon (ahem ok maybe thats a little white lie lol ! )

I adore these Darkroom door stamps.....(hell I adore ALL their stamps......lol)
This card utilizes the barbed wire and lattice splodgeaway masks and to keep the feminine feel I chose bright  distress colours and flower embellies!!

A wintery weekend.......and a little bit of Crafty Individuality

Morning all! Hows the big freeze?

They werent kidding when they said this week was going to be a cold one were they?
Personally I love the snow ...... the big powdery huge Canadian kind not the half a job stuff that grinds this country to a holt!!!

Having said that I am taking today to chill and relax, watching the snow fall across the fields and schedule a couple of posts as this weekend is going to be busy

I know this is a wee bit late nearly 3 weeks into January - but I thought I would share one of my christmas makes with you. Easily adaptable for any time of year !!!
This box card is super simple to make and can very easily be upsized/downsized accordingly and was passed on to me by the lovely Maria Simms (check out her great blog Inkymits !)

On this card I used some fabulous 12 x 12 papers - a real obsession of mine as the several overflowing boxes in the craft room bare testament too!! - to decorate the cover and spine of the box card then stamps from Crafty individuals and Clarity and the whole thing was given a suspended look by using acetate tabs

.....and heres the finished article! I believe it was well recieved .... least I hope it was!!!

Anyway off  I go class today and then a busy weekend of DT work for Splodge's next show on Thursday. Hope you can tune in!!

Crafty hugs for now .... stay safe and warm!!

Shivering with Pans.....

Good Morning All ....
we are all dusted in the white stuff here. I do hope you are all safe and wrapped up warm.

Today I thought I would share my samples from a fantastic class I went to with my fellow Splodge DT member Eileen Godwin. Please visit the blog of this super talented lady!!

As a few of you know I have never been the biggest advocate of Pan Pastels. We just didnt "get on" lol ! So I challenged myself to see if the Queen of the PP's, our lovely Eileen, could not convince me otherwise!

Appropriately we kept it simple to start with the Splodge Shiver mask (available from www.splodgeaway.com) PP's and some Maimeri Irridescent paste (both available here www.yourcreativitystore.com )

We then progressed to messing with more techniques and modelling pastes to create some fabulous cards

Then to my personal fave our freetime play.......boy oh boy did I fall head over heals in love with this sadly discontinued running horse stamp of Eileens!!

All in all we had a fantastic day and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone one of Eileens classes - we really did have a hoot with a fantastic group of ladies! So lovely to catch up with several clarity workshop friends too - Yvonne, Jane, Karen, Hellen and Ann

Well thats all for this morning! Felix is demanding ...... something lol! As I said have a safe day stay warm and see you all again soon !

Crafty hugs for now !!!

A little something for the weekend.....

Good morning everyone ! What are you up to this weekend?

Well all the great and good seem to be jet setting off to the holy grail of the CHA stateside while I am looking forward to catching up with friends old and new tomorrow.
Hopefully we shall all come back suitably invigorated and bursting with fresh ideas.

I am curled up with a silly o'clock brew (excuse for any spelling hoolies lol!!!) and a Felixcat as the uk temperature heads down to Siberian levels........brrrrrr. we thought we would just share a quick post with you about where it all began

Felix is insisting first she is formally introduced to you all so here is the little prima donna!!! excuse the scruffy photo!!!

Keeping the monochrome theme I thought I would share the card that set me off on this merry whirlwind !!

Although I have made cards for many years I have not always been a stamper. Encouraged by how easy the pros made it look I entered Barbara Gray's New Design Club challenge early last year with this card.

The theme had been 3 cats and a bird in black and white (I chose to dig out the old grahite n A level art memories to colour in pencil) - and this was my reject piece I posted it on Fb after sending my original entries in !!!
I got so many tellings off it was swiftly despatched while I scurried off with tail between legs. Anyways long waffle short it won - gobdiddlysmacked I certainly was - and the rest is history!!

Well best be off sleepingz a little more

Have a great weekend stay safe and warm !!

crafty hugs for now

Love

On the wings of a butterfly.....

Well helllllooooooooooooo !!!
Goodly New Year to you all ! Well all the festive humdrum is well and truly over. The decs are down felix is sulking as no more toys to play with except my toes..... Time to get on with the serious stuff.....blogging (regularly!!! erhmmmm) Crafting in earnest and teaching!! Yes I am starting to take more classes this year (if anyone else is interested in coming to a class or is part of a craft group that may be interested pls contact me via email raedalal@yahoo.co.uk)

Right self advertising over lol n now to the more interestin stuff Last week saw the latest Splodgeaway (www.splodgeaway.com) masks launched on create and craft and this was one of my samples from the show.

The background was created using pan pastels on linen cardstock and the Flourishthelot mask to emboss. (available here - Flourishthelot) I then used the mask as a stencil on to different colours of glitter cardstock and hand cut them (this is not as difficult or time consuming as it sounds !!) which were arranged as freestyle layers

And now for the butterfly !!!!! Except when is a butterfly not a butterfly.......when it is actually Clarity's large wallflower (available here - Wall-Flower-Corner-As-Seen-On-TV)
As soon as I saw this fabulously versatile corner I could see it would make an stunning butterfly so this one was made using heat reistant acetate (oooooooooo my nemesis product lol!!) stamped twice in versamark and heat embossed and cut, the point was trimmed and the 2 fixed together. the body was handcut n the antennae are made from the die cut flourishes!

Right thats it for today folks I hope you enjoy this project I off to get the craft room ready for my next project!!

Crafty cheers for now

Love and hugs Rae D
