Chinese New Year - Journal HeART 15 Week 8

Well Hi there gang!! 

Welcome to the weekend and welcome to week 8 of Journal HeART.

This week it is all about the Chinese New Year which was celebrated yesterday....

This year is the year of the goat/sheep - one of the most prized creatures in the Chinese Zodiac and the year 2015 focuses on green sheep!!

This gave me my colour scheme along with the fact that the goat/sheep is the last of the fire signs and the cross over year between fire/metal hence the gold numbers and symbol.

One thing I often do is write on a blank page all my research notes and ideas and feelings before I work over them - its a form of "secret" journalling. 

  

You can see it in this page as I chose to use transclucent acrylic paint for the bulk of my background after I had stenciled opaque paint. I used Fresco paints from PaperArtsy for this project (available here) 

I love the effect of the scribble underneath but not being able to read it clearly...

I then took some of my fave chinese stamps from Oak House Studio - Lynnda has some aweome oriental stamps and they are even in the sale just now so quick!! Get them here.....and add more layering detail - the trick to not making it too chaotic is to keep your colours in the same family - it builds subtle layers 

When it is all put together with some stencils from Splodgeaway it looks something like this...

It's a positve time of the year and its all about carving out and creating your future and fortune so my new Finnabair stamps and their sentiments fitted perfectly. I added the goat like (ok with the eye of faith lol) symbols to finish

So this week research a bit more about the chinese new year and use that as your inspiration

Shadow Box class sample for High Legh.....

Good morning from Blogworld :-)

Maisie's Christening.....

Good morning - hope you have a blessed Sunday

Today I have a Christening to attend - the daughter of one of my longest standing friends...

She is into all things pink and fairies so I have made this CAS card using the moon fairy from Lavinia Stamps (HERE) stamped in Spun Sugar and coloured with Wink of Stella Clear.

The sentiment is from SplodgeAway - the Wording set (HERE)

and I fixed it in place with a tiny amount of Blu Tack before sponging around in Worn Lipstick and highlighting in the Stella again.

Diamantes and ribbon finish of the clean look

Splodgeaway and Orrrrr Sheena......

Good Afternoon all and Happy Good Friday :-) 

Greetings from an absolutely glorious Cheshire, the sun has most definitely got his hat on this Bank Holiday!

I hope it is the same where you are and you are enjoying the start of the Easter weekend :-)

Today i am stopping by with this offering using this gorgeous Mask from SPLODGEAWAY and these stunning Dragonflies from Sheena's FLYING COLOURS stamp set. The sentiment is by Paper Artsy.

Last night wonderful sunset inspired the soft blended colour scheme for this card.

Have a lovely evening everyone - I am heading over to Anglesey this evening ready for a Crafter's Companion demo day at Holland Arms Garden Centre, nr Gaerwen. I hope all the traffic has got where it needs to be by the time I set off!!

Crafty Individuals and a little Splodging.......

Yay it is Friday!!! Happy weekend!!!

I am currently away from home and PRAYING Princess stroppy pants is behaving!!

Little Diva!!

Anyway I digress!! Yesterday 2 out of 3 of my bestest buddy's shared the same birthday - I sure know how to pick em eh!! lol

Anyway here is one of the makes for them.....

This card uses the Zebra Doodle and African masks from Splodge (Available here) to create the background. to create the layers I covered a piece of card in a mix of distress inks and then placed the zebra mask on top before wiping over with a damp baby wipe to remove the ink through the design. Then the African mask was partially placed on top and then inked through.

The stamps are from the On Safari A6 set by the lovely Jean at Crafty Individuals (available here) and I just love them - perfect for a bestie that is besotted with the Hefelumps :-)

The Shadow of the Wind Tag

Afternoon from a chilly blustery Cheshire :-)

Just having a quick cuppa and cuddle with Fe - she's a bit crabby today coz of  me starving her after an upset tummy overnight

I thought this tag would be very appropriate for todays weather - It's one made for a swap group I belong too and the theme this month was Book Titles.

This one is based on the fabulous Gothic Mystery novel, The Shadow of the wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. It's my favourite book of all time :-) and the Cemetery of Forgotton Books plays a central role.

I used masks from SplodgeAway on the background and the books come from Sheena Douglas's Knowledge stamp set - part of the fabulous little bit Magical range. The books are all embossed and decopaged :-)

Chocolate Baroque Butterflies.......

Hello Bloggers! Happy Hump Day!!

Picking it up now 2 posts in 2 days eh?? lolol!!

I had an hour's play time yesterday so I got bright and breezy with the baby wipe technique again - this time with distress inks.....

The cross mask is another from Green Pepper Press and the gorgeous butterfly tree stamp is Essence of Nature from Chocolate Baroque....

A while ago I had a Gelli session and created this butterfly from a Splodgeaway mask, the tag is made with the rusted enamel technique so I combined the two and finished off the the Chocolae Baroque stamps again :-)

Rememberance Sunday

Sunset Vigil

The news is spread far and wide

Another comrade has sadly died

A sunset vigil upon the sand

As a soldier leaves this foreign land

We stand alone, and yet as one

In the fading light of a setting sun

To our fallen comrade who’s set to fly

Splodgy inspirations on Create n Craft

Good morning all, Happy friday everyone!

Hope you have just caught up with all the fab new products from Splodge Hq with Tom on create and craft this morning :-) 

The focus was the Stenskape products and the brand new DVD so here go the samples from today's shows.

This fishing scape is so handy - great for those pesky last minute bloke's makes!

This tag is made using Treasure Gold Gilding Wax to create the lovely background. No fancy technique or applicator - just a trusty old finger to smooch it all around. After that I simply heat embossed the wolf

and moon to create the ethereal scene.

This easel card was made using the fairy stenskape - the background was created using rolled up designer papers and then the mushrooms and fairies were embossed and cut out to add the layers!

This one is the token Eileen stylie make......

....and then just to prove you can use parts of the mask to create totally simple cards for every occassion!

Well I hope you like these makes and the show! I am back off to bed for an hour as I had a completely sleepless night lol.

The "MAIL" Man

Evening all!!

How are you? It's def taken a winter chill here - lovely to come back into a warm snuggly house having been out all day - Sincerely Yours at Leigh. Lovely to catch up with my crafty friends - spent too much lol!!

Anyway this week over at SPLODGEAWAY HQ  it is all about craft cycling - using up all those "bits" us crafters accumulate!

I had been busy making Christmas Cards last week and I decided i would only allow myself to use whatever bits were left over on the desk for my project.

I love the way that die cutting scraps have added extra interest to the layers.

I was also surprised how far the off cuts stretched!

I only had one ink pad on the desk and fortunately they all fitted together! Tag style cards are great to use up those smaller layers. I used Swirly lattice, Dotty the lot, Diamond Metal, Hexey and card king to emboss and ink through for the background tags

I used Darkroom Door's Mail Art stamp set on the dancing man from the Altered art kit. I used this mask as a stencil to cut out the topper.

I hope the DT's project this week have given you ideas for using up all those pesky scrap odds and ends :-)

Splodgeaway "Fairy" Tale.........

Howdy all!!
Happy Weekend :-)

I had so much fun with my other Splodgeaway fantasy project this week that I am back with "Part Deux"

This time I have gone with a "fairy" tale theme. Hans Christian Anderson's The Snow Queen

 I have used a whole myriad of masks to get lots of layers again on this project. Initially using water over the alphabet border to create a mottle pattern. Then distress inks were used with the runes and pentacle from the Gothic Alter layout before I got the fabulous Tattered Angels Sprays out with Leaf the Lot for a subtle hint of shimmer.

After that I applied perfect medium and clear embossing powder through the square edged Brick mask, and then Gold sparkle embossing powder through the leaves on the fantasy Unicorn Stenskape. I also used one of my fave masks - one of the very first Splodge masks of Unicorns and Mermaids. 

The tag was topped off with "Honesty" from Sheena Douglas's lovely A little Bit Magic set - To give an ethereal feel she was embossed on tissue and then white washed from behind with acrylic paint for a semi-translucent look. To add still more depth I gently rubbed Yellow Diamond Treasure Gold over the clear embossing and on the edges before finishing off with the snowflakes and the title.

Splodgeaway Fantasy........

Good morning all. How's your week going? 
Not to fear the weekend is in sight :-)

Over at Splodge HQ everything has gone all mystical and magical and fairytale this week.

So this is my 1st offering....

...... I have gone with a one layer card using distress inks and my new and shiny Wink of Stella pens ;-)

Oooooo me does love them......lots n lots. 

Have no fear there will be more coming up with them soon......

Just because a card is One Layer doesn't mean it can't have depth.

By using masks with different detail, some small patterns and some large open designs; and then a tonal colour scheme this will naturally add depth to your project.

To complete this project I used the following masks Fantasy Fairy StenSkape; Celtic Knot; Blobby lines; The masks of many faces and one of the Bountiful Butterflies 2 masks - all available HERE

So go have some fun and let your fantasies fly across the page :-)

Splodgeaway showcase

Good Morning All !!

Monday's snook round again super quick to bite us all on the butt!!

So here I am back again LOL!! I have got to space these postings out a little bit more !!

It is rather all or nothing!!! I will try to be less erratic this month :-/ ha ha

Last week we had a Splodgeaway show on Create and Craft and today over on the BLOG

It is time to showcase Kathleen Turner's and my own projects

On the show we launched a brand new product - Splodgeboard and these first samples all showcase that.

    

Splodgeboard is a form of mountboard that is cut in multi layers and forms these fab 3D shapes. It takes all sorts of mediums fantastically well. For things like Distress Stains and Flitter Glu Seal it first with a good coat of gesso and then off you go - the world is your Oyster :-) 

Also showcased was this amazing Christmas Village Stenskape and bauble creator which I used to create this kinetic card in a modern winter colour scheme.

Well I hope you enjoyed the show and hopefully now you are playing with some of the goodies!!!

I am off to write up a tutorial for my Ice Skater book card which will be here later this week and play with some lush new Darkroom Door goodies that landed over the weekend :-)

Splodgeaway Owls are us .....

Good evening everyone!!

I hope you all managed to catch the Splodge shows with Tom and Hazel today on Create an Craft? If not enjoy catching up with them this evening. :-)

They were great shows. What do you all think of the great new Splodge product?? (I wont spoil it for anyone who has missed them!) I will be blogging that later in the week :-)

Tonight I thought I would share a couple of the Owl samples from the show. Thanks to Dawn Bibby for taking the time to show all the Design Team's work. Sadly the 1st show didn't showcase too much - it can be a little bit disheartening.

Owls are still a huge trend and the Owl mask set is spot on!

This is a CAS use of the Owl Creator and he is a cutie!!! Although the sentiment seemed to cause a bit of an issue......lol How's Twoo?? AS in twit twoo?? Dawn Bibby could only say two n didnt seem to get it. Was I a bit too clever??? 

For the second one I used the Gelli Plate and took a full print of the owl mask on kraft card and then a print of the mask on the white before decoupaging the little owly on.

Anything Goes.....with Splodgeaway!!

Woohoo Mornin' - I'm back again!!!

Gettin a tad regular with this bloggin' malarky eh???

Dont Panic I am sure it will all revert to normal soon lolol :-)

Today I am showcasing these little projects over on the Splodge blog HERE

These are 3 little gift bags are made from left over envelopes. 

They can be made to any size of envelope. Great, quick and easy as well as uniquely personal if needed. 

The masks I used were an original Splodge mask of winged horses and mermaids ( had it for ages and only just getting to use it :-) ) that I just love, smashed glass, swirly lattice and cupcake creator.

 I tied the colour scheme in with the lovely delicate washi tape being envelopes they don't like a lot of "wet" product so I stuck to inks and tapes. 

Here is the "HOW TO"

1. Take any sized envelope and seal it.

2. Trim off  1 end and decorate to your taste

3. Take your Hougie and score about an inch in on all for sides (this measurement can be varied depending on the size of the required giftbag) and then fold both ways making clean sharp lines

4. Insert your hand into the bag and spread the sides and base until a corner is formed at the bottom fold in and glue

5. Create fastening with either ties or a flap :-)

Easy Peasy as I said!! I hope you like this fun project .
